The Santa Barbara County Breastfeeding Coalition is a strong, cohesive group of health professionals representing many organizations throughout the county. The Coalition’s goal is to increase breastfeeding initiation and duration rates for mothers, and to coordinate lactation services within Santa Barbara County. The Coalition is a group of local medical professionals, social service providers, childbirth educators, lactation experts, and breastfeeding advocates committed to the common goal of promoting breastfeeding and supporting mothers in our community. We are starting our 16th year and are proud of the many accomplishments including:

  • Over $450,000 in grants received
  • Seven local Lactation Educator Courses with 339 health professionals trained
  • Biannual Breastfeeding Symposiums

The Breastfeeding Coalition has been considering a membership fee for awhile. Many of our education events have been free to health professionals in the past. In order to keep us moving forward, we will be implementing a yearly membership drive.
